There are a lot of reasons people are taking smaller trips these days. They are more flexible with work and class schedules, less expensive, and as people who want to see the whole world, it gives more time for us to see other places! I took advantage lf a 3-day weekend and flew to visit a friend in North Switzerland and made every hour count.

Friday, 2 pm: Fly to JFK airport

Friday, 4 pm: Taxi from JFK to LGA airport

Friday, 5 pm: Fly out of LGA airport to ZUR. Yes, I played it that close!

Arrive in Zurich, Switzerland

Saturday, 10 am: Meet friend for a coffee upon arrival

11 am: Take the train to Lucerne while tasting a variety of Swiss junk food.

11:30 am : Bus to Kriens! Walk through town with luggage in hand and appreciate local architecture.

Noon: Ride a personal cable car up Mount Pilatus and see the snow instantly appear at high altitude.

1 pm: Enjoy Geschnetzeltes, a dish with veal and mushrooms and traditional fried dough called

spätzli.

2 pm: Finish mountain top dinner and enjoy playing in the snow. See the Pilatus museum and descend to once again experience the beautiful view along the mountain.

3 pm: Head to the local grocer to pick up raclette ingredients and bulk chocolates for souvenirs♥️. Journey to the Northwest and go shopping in Kreuzlingen. Enjoy warm chestnuts between trains.

6 pm: Drive 15 minutes to cross the border into Konstan, Germany and experience bathhouse. (For those like myself who didn’t know what a bathhouse was, it has the crowd of a community pool and the relaxing heat of a spa and sauna.)

9 pm: Return to Kreuzlingen and settle in. Enjoy raclette melted over buttered potatoes and sausages. A hearty meal to say the least!!

10 pm: Wrap up dinner with Dobble and other card games. Then head to bed content.

Sunday, 7:30 am: Listen to the chickens in the backyard crow to the sunrise.

8 am: Enjoy several spreads over Sunday bread, along with eggs and yogurt for breakfast

10 am: Explore the campus of a Swiss boarding school designed by a famous architect. Visit the park and petting zoo, all within a five minute walk of campus.

10:30 am: Shop for spices before returning to the airport for a noon departure.

All that, and I returned Sunday evening and still had Monday off to focus on homework!
